Each pixel on RetroShape&#8217;s screen has a corresponding &#8220;taxel&#8221; (tactile pixel) on the back of the watch, using 16 independently moving pins.<\/p>\n<p><iframe frameborder=\"0\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8uRskDzkKl0\" width=\"560\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<em>UIST 2017 | RetroShape: Leveraging Rear-Surface Shape Displays for 2.5D Interaction on Smartwatches<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Frictio smart ring<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Current ring-gadget designs will allow users to control things. Instead, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cs.dartmouth.edu\/~xingdong\/papers\/Frictio.pdf\" >Frictio<\/a> uses controlled rotation to provide silent haptic alerts and other feedback.<\/p>\n<p><iframe frameborder=\"0\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/t-WIMp5HNFM?rel=0\" width=\"560\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<em>UIST 2017 &#8212; Frictio: Passive Kinesthetic Force Feedback for Smart Ring Output<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pyro: fingertip control<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cs.dartmouth.edu\/~xingdong\/papers\/Pyro.pdf\" >Pyro<\/a> is a covert gesture-recognition concept, based on moving the thumb tip against the index finger &#8212; a natural,\u00a0fast, and unobtrusive way to interact with a computer or other devices.
